Vessel Catches Fire at Panama Canal Mouth

A crew of nine was rescued from a workboat that caught fire overnight near the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal.

According to MANA, The workboat was identified as the IMS Commander. The incident happened near the coastal city of Amador on the Pacific entrance to the Canal.
Municipal and Canal-employed firefighters assisted in extinguishing the fire. The workboat has since been towed from the scene.
