Sonatrach orders LPG carrier at Jiangnan Shipyard

ALGERIAN state energy company Sonatrach's subsidiary Hyproc Shipping has placed an order at Jiangnan Shipyard, a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corp, for one 13,000 cu m liquefied petroleum gas carrier.

According to MANA, CSSC said the deal is the parent’s first commercial newbuilding order with the owner, and is “significant for the company to explore the market in North Africa and Middle East.”
Vessel price and delivery date were not discosed, but Clarksons said the ship is scheduled for delivery in 2018.
A major global exporter of LPG, Sonatrach currently operates 10 LPG vessels. The existing fleet were all built at Japanese and South Korean shipyards.
In addition to the Sonatrach order, Jiangnan Shipyard has 11 LPG carriers on order, including five 21,000-22,000 c um ships for Petredec, one 22,000 cu m and two 84,000 cu m for Wideshine Enterprise, two 37,300 cu m for Navigator Gas and one 84,000 cu m for Naftomar Shipping and Trading.
