Australia Pacific LNG Sends First Cargo to Japan
Natural gas producer Australia Pacific LNG sent its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from Curtis Island to Japan for The Kansai Electric Power Company (Kansai Electric).
According to MANA, The cargo was sent aboard the 164,700 cbm LNG tanker Fukurokuju, which was built to fulfil Kansai Electric’s contract with Australia Pacific LNG.
Under the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA), signed between the parties in 2012, Kansai Electric will receive approximately 1 million tonnes of LNG each year for 20 years.
The 2016-built vessel, constructed at Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries, features a length of 293 meters and a width of 49 meters.
According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the vessel is scheduled to arrive at the port of Himeji, Japan on July 11.
“The departure of Kansai Electric’s first cargo under the SPA represents another significant milestone in Australia Pacific LNG’s history,” Australia Pacific LNG CEO, Page Maxson, said.
“This shipment to Kansai Electric marks the 27th shipment by Australia Pacific LNG since exports began,” Maxson said, adding that the company is scheduled to deliver the first cargo from Train 2 by the end of CY2016.
