Iran –Oman 360b Toman Contract Signed

The director of Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritime Organization announced that a 360 Billion Toman contract was signed between Omani investor and Imam Khomeini Port.

Pointing out that in Iran, Imam Khomeini Port holds the first position in embarkation and disembarkation of bulk goods, MANA reported, Sadollah Abdollahi remarked: on the average, Imam Khomeini Port embarked and disembarked 45 million tons of goods annually, he added, basic commodities, general cargo and Petroleum and container goods, are also being embarked and disembarked in this port.
He continued: Imam Khomeini Port and Khuzestan Province Ports enjoy the capacity of 55 million tons and 58 million tons, respectively.
Referring to that 70 percent of Iran basic commodities are embarked and disembarked through Imam Khomeini Port, The director of Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritimes Organization remarked: given that 34 percent of transit in Iran takes place through Imam Khomeini Port, this port occupies the top position.
Making a reference to the absorbing investors in Imam Khomeini Port, Abdollahi asserted: in the past year, this port managed to signing 16 contracts with the private sector, Imam Khomeini Port, hence, holds the first position among other ports in absorbing investors.
He further stated: the container capacity of Imam Khomeini Port is 700.000 TEU, which it is speculated, following the launching the developmental plan, this figure could rise to 1 million TEU.
Regarding the role of Imam Khomeini Port in grains sector, he stated: Imam Khomeini Port witnesses the embarkation and disembarkation of 12 to 15 million tons of grains annually.
Emphasizing the Imam Khomeini Port in embarkation and disembarkation of basic commodities has no rival in Persian Gulf, The director of Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritimes Organization remarked: in grain transit, Imam Khomeini Port is the first option for Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
