Panama establishes maritime co-operation ties with Egypt

Egyptian authorities plan to make maritime transportation sector one of the country’s key economic pillars

Panama establishes maritime co-operation ties with EgyptAccording to MANA ,PANAMA and Egypt have formed ties to co-operate in the area of maritime transportation and logistics development.
Panama’s minister of maritime affairs Jorge Barakat Pitty and Egypt’s minister of transport Dr Saad al-Geoushy came to an agreement on this at a meeting in Alexandria.
Dr al-Geoushy acknowledged the expertise which Panama possessed in the areas of maritime logistics due to the Panama Canal and port activities taking place in that area and expressed interest in learning more from the South American nation through an exchange of technical delegations.
During the visit, Mr Pitty also inked a letter of intent with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport president Dr Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail for the academic training of seafarers.
The AASTMT is a regional centre for maritime transport training founded by the United Nations and the Arab League's Council.
Egypt’s transport minister Dr al-Geoushy had said that the ministry intends to make the maritime transportation sector one of the country’s key economic pillars through the establishment of two more ports in the days ahead.
