Garayloo, Vice President of General Manager of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) of Khuzestan, said that container shipping is one of the most important methods of freight forwarding in all the developed ports of the world, MANA reported. "Due to the high quality of this kind of freight transportation, we are willing to encourage more merchants and manufacturers to use container shipping. Therefore, a new logistics yard was inaugurated and exploited with the corporation of a private sector firm," he added.
"We are expecting that the new logistics yard will develop the container shipping process in Imam Port as well as improving the quality of services. We also expect that the new yard will catch the attention of more container lines."
He also emphasized the need for the optimal use of port capacities. "Our port experts at PMO of Khuzestan and Special economic zone of Imam Khomeini successfully negotiated for constructing the yard in order to encourage more merchants and manufacturers to use container shipping. Our experts were also responsible for doing the administrative and operational paper works," he said.
At the end he said: "To activate the logistics yard, a ship loaded with containers was moored. Then, 450 containers were unloaded and categorized at the yard. "
