Hapag-Lloyd change its Europe Australia Express service (EAX), adding new ports and trying to provide better coverage of Southern Europe.

According to MANA, The shipping operator added French ports Fos sur Mer and Pointe de Galets into the loop the southbound leg since December. Also Hapag-Lloyd switches the Italian port Genoa with Salerno on the northbound leg. With the service update the company try to improve the direct coverage in Southern Italy and France with the Australian ports. According to estimates and calculations of the shipping operator by adding new ports will increase the cargo flow on the Europe Australia Express service and will provide better coverage of Southern Europe.
Hapag-Lloyd will stay in good connection with Norther Italy despite of cancellation of calls at port of Genoa, due to the good train connections and freighter loops of the company. “We improve direct port coverage in Southern Italy while at the same time maintaining good coverage of Northern Italy via other Hapag-Lloyd services and a good train connection. South Italian customers will also benefit from a direct export service to Northern Europe”, said the company in official statement announcing the new routes on Europe Australia Express service. The new port rotation will be: Tilbury – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – Fos sur Mer – Genoa – Damietta – (Suez Passage) – Pointe de Galets – Fremantle – Melbourne – Sydney – Adelaide – Singapore – Pt. Kelang – Chennai – Colombo – Cochin – (Suez Passage) – Damietta – Malta – Salerno – Tilbury.
