Maersk Tankers partners with Klaveness for digital solutions

Danish product tanker operator and Torvald Klaveness-led Klaveness Digital have teamed up to develop digital products to serve as a foundation for data-driven decision-making. The cloud-based platform will help Maersk to store data from multiple sources and optimize costs.

The partnership gives both companies cost benefits as the future development of the platform can be shared.

DANISH product tanker operator Maersk Tankers and Klaveness Digital, the Norwegian technology company, have joined forces to develop intelligent digital solutions.

The new partnership has granted Maersk Tankers access to Klaveness cloud-based digital platform, allowing the company to store and manage large volumes of commercial and operational data from multiple sources in one central location, making it easier to develop new solutions.

Chief Digital Officer at Maersk Tankers Peter Schroder said, “we have one of the product tanker industry’s largest data sets on vessel voyages at our disposal.”

“By partnering with Klaveness, we get to collaborate with a like-minded, digitally focused company. Using its platform will allow us to bring our digital solutions to the market faster.”

The partnership gives both companies cost benefits as the future development of the platform can be shared, he added.

Aleksander Stensby, managing director of Klaveness Digital, said transparency and collaboration are key to the future of the industry.

“This partnership demonstrates our shared vision that we are stronger together when working towards a common goal,” he added in a statement.

Earlier, Maersk Tankers became a strategic partner of US hedge fund CargoMetrics to develop digital applications in a bid to optimize vessel operations and achieve better spot earnings.
