Ocean Alliance starts 'Day Two' with 331 Ships

The Ocean Alliance group of container lines has begun the next phase of operations, but with fewer ships than first declared a few months ago.

According to MANA, In late December, Rodolphe Saade-led CMA CGM announced plans to launch the world's largest boxship alliance's "Day Two Product", capable of carrying about 3.6 million teu through 340 ships.
Today, the French boxship owner said the alliance, made up of CMA CGM, CoscoCS, Evergreen and OOCL, will have a capacity of 3.1 million teu on 331 vessels.
As previously stated, services will consist of 20 transpacific, four transatlantic, six Asia-North Europe, four Asia-Mediterranean, five Asia-Middle East Gulf and two Asia-Red Sea.
The transatlantic offering will provide coverage of the US East Coast with new service Independence Bridge giving direct service from North China and South Korea to the Red Sea.
