According to MANA, The world’s largest shipbuilder said the year-to-date orders were worth a total of $3.8bn, in a statement issued on 1 June 2017.
In May alone, HHI Group netted 20 ships worth $1.3bn, a figure that could increase to 29 ships worth $1.9bn if all the attached options are exercised.
A spokesman for the group said the year-to-date order tally of 62 ships represents 51% of its annual order target of $7.5bn.
He added that, according to Clarksons, the HHI Group has secured half of all VLCC orders ordered globally so far this year with 14.
