Vessel Collision Leaves 12 Missing

According to AIS data from Lloyd's List Intelligence, the 2009-built, 6,033 dwtXiang Zhou and the 2007-built, 1,700 teuVan Manila crossed paths at around 2300 hrs on April 5 at the estuary of the Yangtze River off Nantong.

According to MANA, chinese authorities were able to rescue two crew from the Xiang Zhou after locating the shipwreck, but another 12 of the vessel’s crew are still missing.
China-based Ningbo Shanglun Shipmanagement is Xiang Zhou’s owner and manager based on LLI data. The company could not be reached for comment.
Hong Kong-based Sanasia Management is the owner of Van Manila, according to LLI, while Hong Kong-based Northstar Ship Management manages the vessel.
