Container volumes up in August for Singapore port
The port of Singapore has handled higher container throughput in August both on a year-on-year and month-on-month comparisons, according to preliminary estimates from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
According to MANA,Box volumes in August rose by 5.9% to 2.68m teu from 2.53m teu in August 2015, data from MPA showed.Last month’s throughput also increased by 4.3% compared to 2.57m teu seen in July this year.
From January to August 2016, Singapore port moved a total throughput of 20.44m teu, a decrease of 3% compared to 21.08m teu in the previous corresponding period.
