Largest Cruise Ship to be built in Germany

On 28 July MV WERFTEN signed contracts for the basic and detailed design of the 200,001 gross ton “Global Class” cruise ships for Star Cruises, the largest to be built in Germany, with its engineering partners Elomatic Oy (Elomatic) and Deltamarin Ltd (Deltamarin).

According to MANA,“We are delighted to work together with Foreship, Elomatic and Deltamarin on a series of these innovative ships designed from the ground up for the Asian cruise market” says Tan Sri KT Lim, Chairman of the Genting Group, owners of MV WERFTEN. “With Genting’s world-wide experience in the cruise and leisure sectors, Star Cruises’ ‘Global Class’ vessels will again set new industry standards in cruise ship design and provide a quantum leap in passenger satisfaction.”
Combined, Foreship, Elomatic and Deltamarin possess lengthy experience in cruise ship design, including the development of the 223,000 gross ton “Oasis of the Seas” and the 225,000 gross ton “Allure of the Seas”, the largest cruise ships in the world at the time.

Star Cruises’ new “Global Class” mega cruise vessels will be over 340 metres long, 45 metres wide and measure 200,001 gross tons. The construction of these ships will be an important boost for the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the entire European cruise shipbuilding
