Following the visit of Ali Awsat Hashemi (the governor general of Sistan-Baluchestan Province), the director of Free Economic Zones Organization, and the director of Ports and Shipping Organization to the Pakistani Port of Gwadar for promoting Iran-Pakistan economic ties, MANA reported, a Pakistani economic delegation will pay a visit to Iran in April 2016 in order to carry out negotiations in areas such as transit, transship, shipping, and establishing a passenger shipping line.
In a comparison between Gwadar and Chabahar Port, Taher Mahmour Ghoreishi stated that Gwadar Port, in the world map, is like a newly-born baby, yet Chabahar Port is like a young man who is in possession of further facilities, equipment, opportunities and development compared to Gwadar.
He further remarked both Chabahar and Gwadar Ports enjoy ample potentials; these two ports are sisters and we do hope the visits of the Iranian and Pakistani authorities could pave the way for the practical future development of the two ports in the future.
In his visit to Gwadar Port, the Pakistani Councilman in Zahedan stressed, the governor general of Sistan-Baluchestan Province and his accompanying delegation agreed on the construction of a railway between Chabahar and Gwadar. To this end, Pakistani authorities and Gwadar Port officials are currently investigating the feasibility of constructing this railway track.
